Machine Excellence Diagnostic Specialist – 2nd Shift

Lafayette, Indiana

Compensation: $42.38 – $53.92 per hour.

As part of the Large Power Systems Division, you will perform diagnostic and troubleshooting of complex machine tools using a variety of metrology equipment. You will schedule and conduct proactive diagnostic inspections and assist the maintenance team in resolving electrical or mechanical issues. You will also support geometrical tolerancing and B5.54 compliance testing for new machine tool purchases.

• Use API 6D laser, API & Leica tracker laser, Hamar laser, Renishaw ball‑bar, electronic levels, and API spindle analyzer to diagnose machine tool condition.
• Schedule and conduct proactive diagnostic inspections on machine tools and related equipment to achieve quality improvements.
• Assist maintenance team to troubleshoot electrical or mechanical problems.
• Correct or improve geometrical accuracy and dimensional tolerances to comply with B5.54 methods.
• Support geometrical tolerancing and B5.54 compliance testing for new machine tool purchases.
• Utilize electronic spreadsheets to analyze and chart results.
• Read and understand machine tool prints and interpret CMM reports.
• Travel, work overtime, and support production goals as required.

• Completion of an approved skilled trades apprenticeship program or at least three years of experience in lasering and/or alignment of machine tools.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Willingness to work overtime to support production goals.

• Self‑starter and self‑motivated, works well individually and within a team environment.

• Work at heights, climb ladders, work underground and in confined spaces.
• Perform frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for 8+ hours.
• Lift up to 40 pounds.

• Primary shift: 2nd shift 3:30 pm – 11:30 pm. May call on 1st or 3rd shift for training or customer support.
• 40‑hour work week with potential overtime.
