Arconic is seeking a Production Planner to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Lafayette, IN.

Position Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for developing and executing optimized production schedules to support aerospace extrusion operations. This role ensures efficient sequencing of jobs across the manufacturing process to achieve on‑time delivery performance of 95% or higher while aligning with operational capacity and customer requirements. The planner acts as a key liaison between operations, supply chain, and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities Core Duties
  • Develop and maintain production schedules for extrusion press operations, ensuring optimal job sequencing and utilization.
  • Coordinate press loading and scheduling to meet all customer delivery commitments.
  • Evaluate and release production jobs, ensuring correct routing, sizing, and alignment with downstream processes.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to balance priorities and resolve scheduling constraints.
  • Monitor job progress and adjust schedules proactively to mitigate delays and maintain delivery performance.
  • Own and manage billet requirements, ensuring alignment with production schedules and shipment targets.
  • Track all production jobs within ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) for accuracy and visibility.
  • Create and manage shortage, sample, and trial orders as required.
  • Apply production overages and salvage materials to reduce waste and cost.
  • Process engineering and customer change orders impacting production jobs.
  • Provide timely reporting and status updates to Production and Supply Chain leadership.
  • Contribute to forecasting efforts through accurate production input and data analysis.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
  • Support planning department initiatives to improve scheduling efficiency, throughput, and delivery performance.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize flow, reduce bottlenecks, and improve overall process effectiveness.
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to all safety policies and encouraging safe work practices.
  • Ensure all actions and decisions support a safe working environment and regulatory compliance.
  • Support equal employment practices in alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis).
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. Person status: U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in extrusion, metals, or aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar planning tools).
  • Understanding of production flow, capacity planning, and supply chain processes.
  • Ability to analyze data and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • High attention to detail and strong sense of accountability.
