The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production operations within a high-volume pork processing facility. This role ensures that production targets, food safety standards, quality requirements, and employee safety expectations are met or exceeded. The Supervisor leads production team members, enforces company and regulatory policies, and drives continuous improvement across assigned processing areas.
Key Responsibilities Production & Operations- Supervise daily production activities to ensure efficient, safe, and timely processing of pork products
- Meet production schedules, yield targets, labor efficiency goals, and cost controls
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime
- Ensure proper handling, processing, packaging, and storage of pork products
- Enforce USDA, FDA, OSHA, and company food safety and sanitation standards
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, and biosecurity protocols
- Conduct routine inspections and audits of production areas
- Address quality deviations, corrective actions, and documentation requirements
- Lead, coach, and develop hourly production employees and lead operators
- Assign daily work schedules and balance labor across production lines
- Train employees on job skills, safety procedures, and quality standards
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
- Conduct safety meetings, incident investigations, and corrective actions
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to lockout/tagout and sanitation procedures
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, labor efficiency, downtime, and safety metrics
- Participate in lean manufacturing, process improvement, and waste reduction initiatives
- Assist with implementing new equipment, processes, or products
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory or lead experience in food manufacturing, preferably meat or pork processing
- Strong knowledge of USDA, HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations
- Ability to work in a cold, wet, and fast-paced production environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Operations, or related field
- Experience in large-scale pork processing or protein manufacturing
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
