Fabrication Department

Switcher Electric / APT is hiring a Sheet Metal Fabrication Machine Operator for our modern manufacturing facility in Lafayette, Indiana. We build high-quality generator and distribution switchboards, switch gear, and control panels for critical power applications.

Our fabrication department is fully equipped with laser cutters, a shear, turret punch machines, and press brakes. We are looking for someone who can set up and operate one or more of these machines, or who is motivated and willing to learn. Experience is a strong plus, but we are willing to train the right person.

• Set up and operate laser cutters, turret punches, a shear, and/or press brakes to cut, punch, form, and process sheet metal according to drawings and work orders.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Perform quality checks and inspections on finished parts.
• Maintain tools, machines, and a clean, safe work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and support production schedules.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to meet quality and delivery goals.
• Assist with general shop duties as needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Reliable attendance and transportation.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work well in a team environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and stand for extended periods as needed.
• Prior experience operating laser, turret punch, shear, or press-brake equipment is preferred but not required. We will train motivated team members.
