Job Title: Youth Programming Coordinator
Reports to: Mission Advancement Officer
Hours per week: Full-Time ( 40 hours per week)
Location: Mental Health America – Wabash Valley Region, 914 South Street, Lafayette, IN 47901, with regular travel throughout the community and service area.
Mental Health America – Wabash Valley Region (MHA-WVR) is North Central Indiana’s leading mental health and substance use advocacy organization dedicated to promoting mental wellness, prevention, early intervention, and recovery for all Hoosiers. As a state affiliate of Mental Health America, MHA-WVR advances its mission through education, advocacy, comm unity-based programs, direct services, and public health initiatives, with a strong emphasis on youth, families, and underserved populations.
POSITIONSUMMARY
The Youth Programming Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of community-based youth mental health, prevention, education, and early intervention initiatives across MHA-WVR’s service area. Serving as the operational lead for the Minds in Motion Youth Mental Health Bus and other youth-focused programs, this position oversees scheduling, logistics, community partnerships, volunteer engagement, program administration, and performance tracking.
The Youth Programming Coordinator works closely with the Mission Advancement Officer, Marketing Director, program staff, schools, community partners, and volunteers to ensure programs are delivered efficiently, meet grant and organizational requirements, and create measurable impact for youth and families throughout North Central Indiana.
This position requires exceptional organizational skills, project management capabilities, relationship-building expertise, and a passion for advancing youth mental health and community wellness.

Program Management and Operations- Serve as the primary coordinator for the Minds in Motion Youth Mental Health Bus and related youth-focused initiatives.
- Manage program scheduling, logistics, implementation timelines, and operational workflows from initial inquiry through program completion.
- Evaluate requests for bus visits and youth programming opportunities, assess alignment with organizational goals, and coordinate scheduling decisions.
- Develop and maintain annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly program schedules.
- Coordinate staff, volunteers, transportation resources, materials, and community partners to ensure successful program delivery.
- Develop, maintain, and improve operational procedures, workflows, and program documentation.
- Monitor program implementation to ensure compliance with agency standards, grant requirements, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve program efficiency, participant experience, and community impact.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, youth-serving organizations, healthcare providers, community agencies, and local stakeholders.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for community partners seeking youth mental health programming and outreach services.
- Represent MHA-WVR at community events, school programs, meetings, resource fairs, and public engagement opportunities.
- Support the expansion of youth-focused programming throughout the service area by identifying partnership and outreach opportunities.
- Collaborate with community partners to address emerging youth mental health and wellness needs.
- Ensure volunteers receive the resources, communication, and support necessary to contribute effectively.
- Maintain volunteer records, participation data, and engagement metrics.
- Support volunteer recognition, retention, and appreciation initiatives.
