Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 18 months of experience, Cerner proficiency, and an IN or Compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Patient population includes primarily medical cases such as COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, COVID-19, chest pain, and small bowel obstruction, with a smaller surgical caseload (approx. 1–3 post-surgical cases/day) including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, colectomy, mastectomy, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts (6:00–18:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required
- Cerner EMR — experience required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- IV insertion skills required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited institution required
- Indiana-licensed RNs are not eligible for this position (MS/Tele RN positions are excluded from the IN RN exemption policy)
