Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Charge RN for a PCU/True ICU Stepdown position at a short-term acute care hospital, requiring telemetry, cardiac drip management, and an active IN or Compact RN license.

Details
  • Cardiac and Medical PCU unit functioning as a true ICU stepdown in a short-term acute care hospital with 194 staffed beds
  • Patient population includes heart cath patients and those requiring BiPAP, cardiac drips, and vasoactive drips (e.g., Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio)
  • This is a Charge RN role; charge pay is offered and training is available for qualified candidates
  • Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (18:00–06:30)
  • Charting performed in Cerner (experience required)
  • Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
  • Weekend availability required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
Requirements
  • Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand (pending licenses are not accepted)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted); NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
  • Minimum 18 months of RN experience required
  • Telemetry experience required
  • IV start proficiency required
  • Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drips required
  • BiPAP and high-flow oxygen experience required
  • Trauma level experience (Level I, II, III, or IV) required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Ventilator (vent) experience preferred
  • Conscious sedation experience preferred
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • 2 supervisor references required for consideration
Additional Information
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Indiana residents are considered local and are not eligible for this position
  • Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month gap before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break, and in-state residents require a 180-day break
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
  • Scrub colors required: red top, black bottoms
  • Parking is free
