Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mixed-Acuity PCU/Medical-Surgical position on a dynamic unit covering oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary patients, with night shifts and strong neuro experience required.

Details
  • Short-term acute care hospital with 194 staffed beds
  • Mixed-acuity unit (MPCU) serving both medical-surgical and progressive care patients, including oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary populations
  • MS patient ratio of 1:5–6; PCU patient ratio of 1:3–4
  • Patients on cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin drips; exposure to unstable strokes and BiPAP management
  • Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (18:00–06:30)
  • Charting via Cerner (experience required)
  • Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required for all travelers
  • Free parking on-site
  • Scrub color: red top, black bottoms
Requirements
  • Active IN or Compact RN license in hand prior to start date; pending licenses may be accepted if permanent application has been submitted
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA and RQI formats accepted)
  • Minimum 18 months of RN experience required; strong MS/Tele or PCU RNs will be considered
  • Solid neurological nursing experience required
  • Experience with cardiac drip management and titration (cardizem, amiodarone), insulin drip titration, BiPAP/CPAP, and CVA care
  • Experience with IV therapy, central line care, port access, and blood product administration
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited university required
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • SSN and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility approval
  • Any current or former permanent or PRN IU Health employee must have been away from IU Health for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
  • Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break to reset travel eligibility — out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break, both prior to the traveler's year mark
