Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring solid neuro experience and an IN or compact RN license.

Details
  • Mixed acuity unit encompassing medical-surgical and progressive care level patients
  • Unit also serves oncology and stroke patient populations, including unstable strokes and BiPap patients
  • Additional specialties include cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary care
  • MS-level patients cared for at 1:5-6 ratio and PCU-level patients at 1:3-4 ratio
  • Manages cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin drips
  • Cares for post-Watchman and post-ablation patients
  • Night shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts (18:00-6:30), 3x12 shifts also available
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals for all travelers
  • Scrub requirement: red top with black bottoms
Requirements
  • Active RN license (IN or Compact) required, must be in hand prior to start date
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 18 months of RN experience required
  • Strong MS/Tele or PCU experience preferred
  • Solid neurological nursing experience required
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Two supervisor references required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care across a dynamic mixed-acuity unit spanning medical-surgical and progressive care levels
  • Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration not required unless preferred), heparin and IV insulin protocols
  • Monitor and respond to dysrhythmias and provide cardiac emergency response
  • Provide non-invasive airway management including BiPAP/CPAP and nasal cannula support
  • Monitor chemotherapy administration for oncology patients
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local IN residents are not accepted for this position
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
  • Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must complete a consecutive eligibility break (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents) before reapplying
