Position Description
Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Lafayette, Indiana—offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a technician career you can feel good about.
Pay: $24.00 per hour plus bonuses:
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
- Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
- Sign‑on bonus: $2,000 at 30 days and $2,000 at 90 days
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, weekends off.
Hours:
First shift 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background & motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections and repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer when applicable
- Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform required repairs
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support
