Electronics Technician

This role focuses on testing, troubleshooting, and modifying electronic products and prototypes in a collaborative lab environment. The technician supports new product development by evaluating equipment to defined standards, assisting in the design and build of test equipment, and providing technical support to multiple departments. This is a contract position through March 2027, with the possibility of extension, and offers the opportunity to learn and develop new technical skills on the job.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, and evaluate electronic products and equipment to applicable specifications and standards.
  • Build, modify, and repair prototypes for new electronic products.
  • Assist with the design and build of test equipment used in the testing of new products.
  • Troubleshoot and modify printed circuit board (PCB) prototypes in a lab environment.
  • Use test tools such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), voltmeters, and other diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve issues.
  • Document test results, troubleshooting steps, and modifications clearly and accurately.
  • Support engineers and other departments by providing general technical assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with another technician and a team of engineers to solve technical problems and improve product performance.
  • Follow established procedures, safety guidelines, and best practices when working with electronic equipment and test tools.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of electrical troubleshooting experience or an associate degree in electronics.
  • Ability to work with electronic test tools such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, digital multimeters (DMMs), and similar equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuits and components, including the ability to interpret schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for electronic products and PCB prototypes.
  • Ability to document work clearly, including test procedures, results, and changes made to prototypes.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and processes related to electronic testing and prototyping.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with technicians and engineers.
  • Comfort working in a lab setting with electronic equipment and prototypes.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Soldering skills, including through-hole and surface-mount soldering, are a strong plus.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other advanced test equipment is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting electronic schematics and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail when assembling, modifying, or repairing prototypes.
  • Good communication skills to share findings and collaborate with engineering teams.
  • Positive attitude toward continuous learning and working in a collaborative environment.
Work Environment

The technician works primarily in an electronics lab environment focused on troubleshooting and modifying PCB prototypes. The role involves daily use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, voltmeters, spectrum analyzers, and other diagnostic tools. You will work closely with one other technician and a team of approximately 12 engineers, fostering a highly collaborative and supportive atmosphere. The position is structured as a contract through March 2027, with the potential to extend through May 2027.

The environment emphasizes hands-on work with electronic hardware, adherence to lab safety practices, and close coordination with engineering staff to support new product development.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
