Project Accountant

Staffmark is hiring a Project Accountant in Lafayette for someone who knows the numbers, keeps the books tight, and gets it done accurately. This company rocks! Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field preferred
  • At least three years of accounting experience
  • Construction or engineering accounting experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of job-cost accounting
  • Experience preparing and reviewing work-in-progress schedules
  • Knowledge of AIA billing processes
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Sage, Procore, Foundations, Viewpoint, or similar construction software is a plus
  • Understanding of GAAP and internal accounting controls
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and financial accuracy
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to take initiative and manage multiple priorities

Job Duties:

  • Monitor and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
  • Track project expenses and prepare monthly job-cost reports
  • Process subcontractor invoices
  • Review and process change orders and progress billings
  • Collaborate with project managers on budget revisions
  • Prepare and update cost-to-complete estimates
  • Set up new projects in the accounting system
  • Enter project billing terms, cost codes, and related information
  • Manage project accounts receivable
  • Follow up on outstanding customer payments
  • Prepare and analyze project-specific financial statements
  • Support the monthly close process
  • Perform budget-to-actual and other variance analyses
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and industry regulations
  • Maintain accurate documentation for audits and contractual requirements
