Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach Honda PACT automotive courses using American Honda–approved curriculum and training materials
  • Deliver instruction in classroom, lab, and shop environments
  • Provide hands‑on training in diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of Honda/Acura vehicles
  • Maintain lab/shop safety, tools, and equipment Integrate safety, professionalism, and industry best practices into all instruction
  • Evaluate student performance through exams, practical assessments, and competencies
  • Advise and mentor students on academic progress, technical skills, and career pathways
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and submitting final grades to the registrar’s office each semester according to established deadlines
  • Maintain compliance with Honda PACT program standards and audits
  • Coordinate with Honda dealerships for student internships, sponsor ships, and employment opportunities
  • Stay current with evolving Honda automotive technologies through ongoing training
  • Assist with program promotion, student recruitment, and outreach activities
  • Follow college policies, safety regulations, and instructional best practices
  • Serve on college, divisional, and program committees as assigned
  • Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from college, division, and program administrators
  • Develop and maintain professional relations with the industry through industry visits and advisory committee meetings
  • Assume other duties as requested by the supervisor and the College.
Required Qualifications
  • A Baccalaureate degree in the discipline and at least two (2) years of directly related occupational experience, OR
  • An associate degree in the discipline and three (3) years of occupational experience and skill in the teaching discipline with verifiable academic credentials, qualifications, or competencies appropriate for teaching the course content*, OR
  • A relevant diploma or certificate in the discipline and four (4) years of occupational experience and skill in the teaching discipline with verifiable academic credentials, qualifications, or competencies appropriate for teaching the course content *, OR
  • At least five (5) years of occupational experience and skill in the teaching discipline with verifiable qualifications or competencies appropriate for teaching the course content*.
  • Current ASE Master Certification or the ability to certify within 12 months of employment.

* Academic coursework, work experience, licenses, certifications, credentials, competencies, or other experiences appropriate for teaching the course content must be documented and justified.

** Faculty must additionally demonstrate steady progress to attain an associate degree to be considered for continued employment. Steady progress is defined as the successful completion of at least one college course per semester, including the summer, or nine credits per academic year.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience in post‑secondary education is preferred.
  • Current ASE Master Certification
  • Experience working with Honda or Acura vehicles in a dealership environment.
