An exciting international teaching opportunity is now available with Académie Lafayette in Kansas City. The school is seeking a passionate Middle School English Language Arts (Grades 6–8) Teacher to join its full-time academic team for the 2026 school year.

This role is ideal for globally minded educators who are eager to teach in a diverse, inquiry-driven environment while contributing to an International Baccalaureate–inspired learning community. As a Middle School ELA Teacher, you will deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that develops literacy, critical thinking, and global awareness among students aged 11–14. Reporting directly to the campus principal, you will design motivating lessons, assess student progress, and foster an inclusive classroom culture that values diversity and curiosity.

You’ll play a key role in shaping students’ academic growth while collaborating closely with fellow educators, administrators, and families. Continuous professional development—including International Baccalaureate training, is an integral part of this position, supporting your growth as an international educator. This is a full-time, exempt teaching role based on campus in Kansas City.

• Deliver engaging ELA instruction using varied teaching strategies to support different learning styles and ability levels
• Design motivating lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and student development needs
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry, literacy, and global perspectives
• Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and monitor student progress
• Maintain clear expectations, routines, and procedures for classwork, homework, and assessments
• Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding student performance
• Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and IB-related training
• Meet grading deadlines and follow school-wide reporting and feedback procedures
• Maintain substitute plans and support continuity of learning when absent

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
• Missouri Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification (or equivalent international qualification)
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience for visa-sponsored international applicants
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Experience with International Baccalaureate (MYP/DP) preferred
• Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning
• Willingness to complete background clearance checks
