Job Responsibilities:
Maintain current and confidential records related to Student Services, including scholarships, individual student files, cumulative data, predictive data, monthly reports, reports for external agencies, program evaluation reports, and prospective employer information. Attend and actively participate in student recruitment and retention activities, including Preview Day, Junior Day, Foundations of Excellence, Nursing Career Fair, and Athletic Recruitment Functions. Participate in recruitment events hosted by area school districts and healthcare agencies.
Correspond with prospective students, transfer students, and re-entry students to provide information and guidance. Collect student scholarship applications, synthesize information, and notify donors and recipients of awards. Monitor scholarship recipients' full-time enrollment and cumulative grade point averages each semester for scholarship maintenance. Coordinate and conduct student advising sessions each semester, offering guidance in curricular planning from entry to graduation. Advise students enrolled in BSN, RN-BSN, HIM, and HSA programs.
Assist all College of Nursing and Health Sciences students in staying on track with program-specific curriculum designed for timely graduation. Manage enrollment in nursing and Health Sciences courses and request additional seats in general education courses as needed. Provide students with updates and changes in curriculum or policies within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Inform Academic Success Center counselors of curriculum and policy changes.
Monitor eligibility requirements for specific courses. Review degree audits for graduates in Nursing and Health Sciences. Serve as a member of Faculty/Student Activities committee and/or Commencement committee, as well as participate in campus committees as directed. Refer students to on-campus resources, including Registrar's Office, Financial Aid Office, Counseling and Testing, Office of Disability Services, Career Counseling Center, the Learning Center, and Student Health Services.
Orient freshmen, early admission, Honors, change of major, and transfer/re-entry students to policies and procedures within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Evaluate change of major and transfer students' transcripts to determine minimum eligibility requirements for individual majors in the college. Supervise and monitor Nursing Student Services Administrative Assistant, Advisor/Counselor, and RN to BSN Academic Advisors, as well as student workers.
Maintain Student Services office hours and ensure efficient office operation. Project the number of students enrolling in specific undergraduate nursing and Health Sciences courses. Supply student demographic information for various reports and grant proposals. Serve as Super Advisor for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in the degree audit system. Act as an authorized transfer credit evaluator in the Transfer Evaluation System (TES).
Recommend changes in student policies and seek clarification of policy interpretations in specific student situations. Serve as an advocate for student concerns and needs with faculty and administration. Keep all documents, literature, forms, and the website updated for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences Profession programs. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean, Associate Dean, Director of Nursing, and the Department Head for Health Sciences.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. 1-2 years experience in academic advising.
