Data Engineer

Downhole Chemical Solutions (DCS) is an Employee-Owned oil and gas chemical company specializing in hydraulic fracturing optimization through data‑driven decision making. Founded in 2015, DCS focuses on being the best at a targeted set of solutions, supported by a strong culture of innovation in technology, operations, and engineering.

We are expanding our data engineering capabilities to support the next phase of our data and technology roadmap. This role is designed for an early‑career Data Engineer (1–3 years’ experience) who has worked with large scale production data systems and is eager to deepen their skills in real‑time data ingestion, SQL performance, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud automation
. This position offers hands‑on ownership
, mentorship, and exposure to real‑world, always‑on systems. You’ll work directly with engineers across software, AI, and industrial systems.

Data Engineering & Infrastructure (Primary Focus — ~85%)

• Support the design, development, and maintenance of high‑volume SQL databases used in real‑time operational systems
• Build and maintain data ingestion and ETL/ELT pipelines for streaming and batch data
• Assist with query optimization, indexing, and schema improvements as data volumes grow
• Help monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot performance or reliability issues
• Contribute to automation of data workflows, monitoring, and operational tasks with Power Automate and similar tools
• Participate in the evaluation and adoption of Microsoft Fabric and other modern data tooling

Internal IT Support (Secondary Focus — ~15%)

• Provide limited internal Tier I IT support (training provided)
• Assist internal users with data access and basic troubleshooting
• Help document systems, processes, and operational workflows

• 1–3 years of hands‑on experience working with data systems, databases, or ETL pipelines
• Strong SQL fundamentals and experience with relational databases
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred) or modern data tools
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic work environment where deliverables and priorities change daily
• Comfortable collaborating with technical and field teams

• Experience with ETL/ELT tools, pipeline orchestration, performance tuning, and query optimization
• Hands‑on experience with some of the following, or a strong desire to learn: (SQL Server/MySQL, Azure IoT Hub, Stream Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or similar)
• Creative mindset, innovative tendencies, and self‑motivated work ethic
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to debug and support existing applications

• In‑person - Lafayette, LA; candidates must reside within commutable distance. Relocation is not available for this position currently
• Monday‑Friday 8 AM - 5 PM
• Employee will work in DCS’s engineering department, and report to the Engineering Manager – Data & IT
• 65,000 – 80,000 Salary - commensurate with experience
