Position: Aircraft (Rotary Wing) Technical Inspector

Responsibilities

  • Inspects repairs and modifications of aircraft structures, structural components and engines.
  • Plans, conducts, and supervises aircraft technical inspections.
  • Develops and implements quality control and ground safety programs.
  • Evaluates personnel skills, training, and experience.
  • Performs audits and inspections of work centers, ongoing maintenance actions, procedures, equipment, and facilities.
  • Examines parts and components for conformance to design specifications, determining serviceability and tagging disposition.
  • Monitors timeliness and applicability of maintenance technical data and library.
  • Reviews maintenance source documents and inspection records, noting recurring discrepancies or trends and initiating appropriate action.
  • Manages material deficiency and technical order improvement program.
  • Reviews engineering investigation requests.
  • Initiates and reviews quality deficiency reports, technical deficiency reports and hazardous material reports.
  • Conducts safety inspections, training, and drills.
  • Inspects and verifies proper completion and documentation of safety and flight discrepancies.
  • Briefs and debriefs pilots and crew members assigned to functional check flights.
  • Participates in maintenance test flights and operational checks as required.
  • Ensures compliance with aircraft configuration control, Army oil analysis program and calibration of test‑measuring diagnostic equipment.
  • Provides guidance to lower‑level technicians on aircraft repair and inspection techniques.
  • Prepares evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance and repair.
  • Maintains entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Performs other qualified duties as requested.
Minimum Requirements
  • Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience.
  • One (1) year of technical inspection experience on rotary‑wing aircraft.
  • A valid and up‑to‑date FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license.
  • A valid FAA Inspection Authorization (IA). If no IA, must have at least five (5) years as an inspector on helicopters.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems applicable to fabrication, repair, operation and maintenance.
  • Proficient record keeping, report preparation, and review of work for accuracy and conformity to standards.
  • Proficient use of ULLS‑AE (Unit Level Logistics System – Aviation Enhanced).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair and replacement procedures.
  • Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and non‑complex electrical systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and shears.
  • Ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills for prioritizing workload to meet delivery schedules.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to walk and stand on level or inclined surfaces for extended periods, climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders, lift or move objects exceeding 50 pounds, type using a standard keyboard, handle dirty parts and lubricants, wear PPE, pass respirator fit test, operate power vehicles and machinery, and work in potentially noisy, drafty, and dirty environments.

Compensation

Hourly wage: $38.37
