Job Description: Are you interested in CDM Smith but don’t see the right opening yet? This posting covers roles within our Automation Practice. We regularly hire Automation and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) specialists to support SCADA and automation projects for public, private, and federal clients.
Responsibilities- Creates basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D design practices. Assists with specification development. Creates basic to moderately complex HMI graphics, PLC programming, report development, and assists with testing and startup of control systems.
- Reviews basic to highly complex component-level shop drawings and contractor clarifications. Assists with testing oversight.
- Develops instrumentation and control system designs by creating P&IDs, control system architectures, specifications, and control descriptions for use in control system programming.
- Leads staff and provides direction and mentoring for junior staff. Reviews the work of junior staff as necessary.
- Under general supervision, assists in preparing proposal sections and presentations. Supports marketing and new business activities in support of the Automation strategy. May participate in proposals.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5 years of related experience.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency depends on duties, responsibilities, and project demands.
- Experience with Water/Wastewater highly preferred.
- Experience with in an engineering and/or an integration firm highly preferred.

Pay and BenefitsPay Range Minimum: $91,478
Pay Range Maximum: $160,118
Additional Compensation: All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.

- Driver's License Requirements: An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of instrumentation, controls and related systems designs. PLC and HMI experience required. Excellent communication skills. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Expert knowledge of 3D and 4D design practices.
