Senior Fire Alarm Systems Design Engineer

Position Location: This is a hybrid remote/in-office position supporting our Southeast region which includes LA, MS, AL, GA, FL, NC, SC, TN, VA, KY, and MD.

Design unique fire alarm system solutions for commercial buildings, both new and existing. Recommend productivity improvements and cost reductions to enhance customer satisfaction and job profitability.

• Choose the appropriate mix of products and installation methods to provide the most cost‑effective solution.
• Prepare submittals and schedules; handle ordering of products and equipment.
• Participate in sales‑to‑operations turnover meetings to evaluate accuracy of the sales estimate and job layout.
• Design fire alarm systems for buildings, including floorplan drawings for device locations, riser diagrams, wiring details, panel mounting, bills of materials, and sequences of operations that meet the intent of project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Provide general electrical calculations (battery, voltage drop, conduit fills, power supply sizing) and prepare engineering re‑estimates, following up with sales and management to ensure understanding of the job scope.
• Ensure job scope, specifications, and schematics meet customer needs; provide start‑up and checkout documentation to the Project Manager for commissioning and validation.
• Perform quality assurance, peer‑review engineering documents, and mentor, train, and direct the design activities of the engineering team.

• High school diploma or state‑recognized GED; candidates with at least 5 years of fire system design experience will also be considered.
• 7+ years of experience engineering fire alarm systems.
• Must be able to demonstrate:
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals of fire systems or equivalent field experience with fire system controls.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm system components (panels, strobe boosters, spot detectors, duct‑mounted and projected beam smoke detectors, aspirating smoke detectors, monitor modules, relay modules, manual pull stations, notification devices, Class A/B/X circuits, state and local fire codes, NFPA 72).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams.
• NICET III – Fire Alarm Systems certification and willingness to obtain NICET IV.
• 5+ years of proficiency in AutoCAD and design; proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
• Occasional travel may be required for important team gatherings, project kick‑offs, strategic discussions, or training.

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
• EIT, NICET IV – Fire Alarm Systems.
• NICET Special Hazards.
