Job Summary

The Electrical & Instrumentation Drafter will be responsible for preparing 3D models and 2D drawings for the design of complex offshore/onshore E&I systems utilizing CAD software.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare 3D models and 2D drawings from supplied information or verbal instructions with little supervision.
  • Edit drawings and incorporate changes from provided markups or verbal instructions.
  • Review design information, question inconsistencies, apparent errors, and omissions.
  • Interact with design team and clients to resolve drafting/design issues.
  • Ensure all drawings adhere to Client, Industry, and Company Standards.
  • Maintain project files and folders following company standards.
  • Keep Project Leads updated on concerns related to assignments.
  • Create Electric Area Classification Plans and Details.
  • Calculate conduit and fittings size with minimum guidance.
  • Size cable fittings with minimum guidance.
  • Route cables in cable tray systems using cable schedules with minimum guidance.
  • Calculate cable tray fill with minimum guidance.
  • Create Tray Routing Plans.
  • Create Instrument Location Plan drawings using GA's, piping plans, etc.
  • Understand Instrument Cable Block diagrams.
  • Create Instrument Installation Details using engineering data sheets with minimum guidance.
  • Perform field work as required to obtain accurate information and create sketches; duration determined by project requirements.
  • Perform corrections to drawings: P&’s, Grounding Plan, Cable Routing Plans, Tray Plans, Wiring Diagrams, Schematics, Panel Layouts, E&I Details, Building Layouts, and Loop Diagrams.
Qualifications (Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

)
  • Accredited drafting training and discipline training or up to 12 months of working experience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of E3D, Plant3D, CADWorx, Solid Works, Navisworks.
  • Knowledge of E3D Cabling System and Smart Plant SPI preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of P&’s, PLC and DCS systems.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA, NEMA, ISA & ANSI.
  • Basic knowledge of API RP 500, API RP 14F.
  • Basic knowledge of Electrical Codes NEC and IEC.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office‑based (private, semi‑private office or cubicle); occasional travel to off‑site locations.
  • Field duties may involve outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere.
  • Interaction with team members, supervisors, and client personnel.
  • Work offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
  • Must wear safety equipment as required by the safety department.
  • Must tolerate climate changes and potentially be at more than one job site in a day.
  • Possible travel out of town on a periodic basis.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Clear speech and hearing for effective communication.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
  • Good vision or other observation abilities.
  • Manual dexterity for routine office duties.
  • Personal mobility and reflexes to perform office duties and travel to off‑site locations.
