Role Description The Senior Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in the Lafayette, Louisiana Metropolitan Area. This position is responsible for producing and revising detailed CAD drawings and models for sitework, civil, and marine construction projects, following engineering specifications and project standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with project managers and engineers, interpreting design plans, preparing layouts, and ensuring drawing accuracy and consistency across multiple project phases.
The role involves maintaining organized drawing files, supporting updates during construction, and coordinating with field teams to reflect as-built conditions. The Senior CAD Technician also participates in quality checks, assists in improving drafting standards and workflows, and contributes to technical documentation to support project delivery.
Qualifications
- Strong technical support and troubleshooting skills related to CAD software, design files, and related systems.
- Experience with computer maintenance and computer repair in a design or engineering environment.
- Knowledge of operating systems commonly used in CAD and engineering applications, and ability to work with IT teams to resolve issues.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar) and familiarity with civil and marine construction drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and survey data.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple drawing packages and deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with engineers, project managers, and field personnel.
- Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Several years of experience in a CAD technician role, preferably within civil, sitework, or marine construction projects.
