Billing Analyst – Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Lafayette, LA

A leading law firm is seeking a Billing Specialist to join its team. This position is based in the firm’s Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Lafayette office. The ideal candidate will have experience with e-billing, paper billing, & experience with pre-billing. If you're looking to grow your career at a top law firm, don't hesitate to reach out!

Key Responsibilities:

• Compile accurate timekeeper hours and client costs for monthly billing or as directed by attorneys.
• Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney requests and execute complex bills in a timely manner.
• Verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation.
• Research and respond to billing-related inquiries and issues.
• Review new matter setups and ensure billing instructions are accurately entered.
• Coordinate with attorneys on billing rates, instructions, and special client requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of client billing guidelines and keep billing team informed of changes.
• Develop and document new billing guidelines as needed.
• Utilize billing/accounting software (Aderant Expert) for billing and reporting functions.
• Assist with legal inquiries, litigation, and audit documentation as needed.
• Analyze client write-downs and collaborate with attorneys on appeals.
• Participate in special projects and process improvements.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional services firm; law firm experience is highly preferred.
• Experience with electronic billing software is preferred.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
• Highly responsive to communications and requests.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Experience with comprehensive accounting systems is a plus.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is preferred.
