Advance your career as a UX Designer on a collaborative Agile team supporting the modernization of mission-critical supervisory systems for a federal agency. This position is located in our Lafayette, Louisiana office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Responsibilities- Lead the design of user interfaces and workflows for web applications, ensuring usability and Section 508 accessibility compliance
- Conduct user research, interviews, and usability testing to inform and validate design decisions
- Translate requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and high‑fidelity visual designs using modern design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, etc.)
- Collaborate with cross‑functional Agile teams (developers, product owners, stakeholders) to deliver user‑centered solutions
- Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and documentation
- Apply human‑centered design (HCD) and best practices to create engaging, efficient, and accessible user experiences
- Present design concepts and findings to technical and non‑technical audiences
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to backlog refinement
- Mentor junior designers and provide feedback to elevate team design quality
- Stay current with UX trends, tools, and accessibility standards
- Bachelor's degree in Human‑Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of professional experience in UX/UI design for web applications
- Proficiency with design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar)
- Demonstrated experience with user research, usability testing, and iterative design
- Strong understanding of user‑centered design principles and usability best practices
- Working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards and inclusive design
- Experience collaborating in Agile or cross‑functional teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Eligibility for federal background investigation and compliance with security requirements (U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency with 3+ years residency)
- Experience designing for enterprise or regulated environments
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS and front‑end development concepts
- Experience with Dev Sec Ops or Agile software development environments
- Certifications in UX, HCD, or accessibility
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior designers
