Experienced Local Blaster/Painters
We are currently taking resumes/applications for experienced local blasters/painters for the Lafayette, LA and surrounding area. Duties/responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following:
Job Summary:
- Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment:
Shovels or pours abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper. - Applies paint or similar type coatings either by spraying, brushing, or rolling on to surfaces.
Required Skills:
- Tank experience preferred, but not necessary
- Experience with conventional and/or airless systems
- Ability to set up and use conventional and/or airless systems
- Ability to set up and use blast pot and/or nozzle equipment
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action.
- Masks specified areas of objects not to be painted to protect from unwanted over-spray.
- Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive material flowing through nozzle.
- Operate equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasives over surface of parts. Manually directs nozzle over area to be blasted.
- Loads parts on racks in enclosed rooms, into tumbling barrels, or into cabinets.
- Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel.
- Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts
- Manually directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove-fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval.
- May set up ventilators; exhaust units, ladders, and scaffolding prior to blasting and/or painting
- Blast and/or Paint in enclosed and open areas using proper protective clothing and equipment.
- Washes surfaces to remove grease, rust, scale, and dirt, using soap and water, or with other solvents.
- Cleans sand and debris from work area.
- Cleans, maintains, and repairs all blasting and/or painting equipment.
- May examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Manage housekeeping activities when requested.
- Maintain the work area clean, safe and organized.
- Assist in waste disposal and recycling activities
- Cleanup work area and equipment after work is completed.
- Execute daily work instructions received from Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals while maintaining high quality standards.
- Practice safety procedures in accordance with training and guidelines when working.
- Comply with company policies and legal guidelines, helping to maintain a safe and orderly work environment
- Meet quality and performance requirements as outlined by quality assurance and production standards
- Report safety hazards, quality, and production issues to management immediately
Physical Requirements:
- Must be comfortable working at different heights
- Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS
- Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks
- Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments
- Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
- Ability to work in an environment with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gases
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions
- The employee is occasionally exposed to loud noise, fumes, and/or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock
Documents Required:

- Social Security Card/Birth Certificate
Must have own PPE (hard hat, steel toes, gloves, & safety glasses.) Must be able to pass drug screen. Must have reliable transportation.

- $20.00 to $22.00/Hr
