The Metal Fabrication Melt Technician is responsible for the safe handling, segregation, and melting of customer precious metals submitted for recycling and account credit. This role also supports casting grain production and assay sample preparation while ensuring accuracy, accountability, and adherence to safety standards throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities- Promote and maintain a safety-first work environment while adhering to all departmental and company safety requirements.
- Segregate, melt, and process customer precious metals with a high level of accuracy and accountability
- Operate induction furnaces and related equipment to support production needs
- Produce and finish casting grain to quality standards
- Prepare, weigh, and track assay samples using Oracle and other systems
- Maintain accurate records of material movement and job weights
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
- Complete required training and support departmental goals as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to safely operate equipment and machinery
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Familiarity with Oracle or similar inventory systems
- Experience operating furnaces, tumbling equipment, or other industrial machinery
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn specialized processes
Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing environment involving furnaces, machinery, and precious metal processing equipment
- Required use of personal protective equipment, including steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, and other safety gear as needed
- Must maintain a clean-shaven face when working in designated areas requiring respiratory protection
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
