Job Description
Location:
Pascagoula, MS
Pay: $35–$42 per hour
Per Diem: $140 per day
We are hiring experienced Structural Welders and First Class Shipfitters for shipyard work in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
Structural Welder
Structural Welders join metal components used in marine vessel construction using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/stick) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW/wire).
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural welding using SMAW and FCAW processes.
- Prepare metal surfaces and joints for welding.
- Follow applicable drawings, work instructions, and welding procedures.
- Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy.
- Use welding equipment, grinders, and related tools safely.
- Follow shipyard safety procedures and maintain an organized work area.
Qualifications:
- Experience with both FCAW and SMAW welding.
- Ability to follow welding procedures and work instructions.
- Understanding of welding safety and proper equipment use.
- Ability to work in a shipyard environment, including at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
First Class Ship fitter / Journeyman Ship fitter
Shipfitters perform the layout, fabrication, assembly, fit-up, and erection of steel components used in marine vessel construction.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints using standard and metric measurements.
- Lay out, fit, align, and assemble steel plate, beams, and structural components.
- Position and secure components for welding and assembly.
- Use grinders, hand torches, hydraulic and ratchet jacks, chain falls, and come-alongs.
- Check measurements and alignment using squares, levels, and plumb bobs.
- Follow shipyard safety procedures throughout fabrication and installation.
Required Qualifications:
- Basic math, reading, and comprehension skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Knowledge of steel plate and beam layout, fit-up, and fabrication.
- Experience using shipfitting tools and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience setting and erecting units using datum lines.
- Knowledge of fit-up requirements and alignment tolerances.
- Advanced blueprint-reading skills.
