Job Description
The Certified Nursing Assistant performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. The Certified Nursing Assistant assists with patient cleaning, feeding, and preparation for treatment, takes and records vital signs, changes bed linen, prepares treatment trays and other supplies, and assists nursing service personnel with a variety of other patient care duties.
Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.
- Patient Care – Assist in preparing unit and patient rooms and beds, ensuring that patients are adequately accommodated during their hospital stay. Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer, and discharge procedures in a compassionate manner.
- Takes and records patient vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, intake‑output). Documents information in CIS and reports any unusual incidents or changes in condition to appropriate personnel.
- Assists patients with daily living activities (bed bath, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing, back rubs, linen freshening), and provides general care (positioning, pre‑ and post‑operative care, assistance with bed pan use). Prepares patients for meals, serves food, and feeds when needed, showing compassion and respect.
- Transports patients to and from designated areas of the hospital in a caring, professional manner. Ensures identification bracelets before transport, retrieves medications from pneumatic tube system or pharmacy and delivers them to nurse or secure place as directed.
- Provides quality patient care by answering call lights promptly, maintaining a clean and safe environment, cleaning rooms and equipment, preparing for sterilization, reporting damaged equipment and handling linen and supplies properly.
- Uses equipment and supplies efficiently to support departmental operations and high‑quality care. Participates in staff education and continuing training to enhance performance.
- Collaborates with physicians under RN supervision – assists with examinations, treatments, specimen collection, lab transport, and patient rehabilitation per care plan.
- Runs inter‑departmental errands (transporting lab specimens, picking up medications) rapidly and professionally.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
