Role Overview
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supporting plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and center physician. Responsible for donor eligibility assessment, medical monitoring, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
Key Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility and manage informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self‑exclusion.
- Conduct medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and review serological protein electrophoresis (SPE) results.
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for medical emergencies, including development of standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency facilities.
- Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs on medical or technical issues, including unacceptable findings and donor safety.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation requirements for occupational health/ER.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats in accordance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) guidance.
- Provide center‑level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives as directed by Bio Life Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a graduate‑equivalent nursing program meeting state requirements.
- Licensed or certified EMT‑Paramedic in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum of two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
Hourly Wage Range: $21.60 – $29.70 (U.S. – LA – Lafayette)
