American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a fast-paced, high-acuity unit requiring 2+ years of specialty experience and Epic proficiency.
Details- Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- High acuity, fast-paced unit
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
- Floating to other units as needed
- No call-in requirement
- Epic charting system experience required
- Active RN license (Compact or LA) in hand at time of submission
- BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral/PICC line management
- Experience with central line blood draws and blood product administration preferred
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur Evac) preferred
- Wound care and wound vac experience preferred
- Experience managing renal failure and surgical drains preferred
- Telemetry and remote cardiac monitoring experience preferred
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)
- Provide direct patient care including medication administration, wound care, and line management
- May be assigned to an emergency response team during facility emergencies, with expectation to remain onsite or serve as relief staff
- Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
- Orientation held five days per week
- Two manager/supervisor references (not charge RNs) required to obtain clearance to start, though not required at submission
- Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Former Ochsner Health permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation before returning as a travel candidate
- RTO must be disclosed on profile and discussed during interview to avoid offer rescindment
