This job functions in a supervisory capacity over the Security Sergeant and Security Officers on assigned shift and assumes responsibility for the day‑to‑day operations of Security Operations. This job provides instruction and guidance to officers on the assigned shift, including officers from other shifts during cross‑over periods. It also assumes responsibility for the preparation of work schedules and provides on‑the‑job training.

EducationRequired – High school diploma or equivalent.
Work ExperienceRequired – 3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience.
1 year supervisory experience in a security‑related field.
CertificationsRequired – Valid Louisiana driver’s license and clean DMV report.
Must successfully pass and maintain instruction and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI), and firearms training.
Preferred – Completion of Certified Police Officer Standard Training Policy Academy (state or federal). Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification.

- Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.
- Position is considered Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call availability).
- Coordinate the activity and day‑to‑day operations of security staff on the assigned shift.
- Provide guidance and leadership to security staff regarding departmental issues, including enforcement of policies and procedures and the services provided.
- Evaluate serious security or sensitive incidents and take appropriate action, including response and notifications, and advise security leadership of all notable incidents.
- Complete security audits quarterly or as assigned in a timely manner according to guidelines.
- Ensure all security reports are complete and correct within the established time frame.
- Support leadership in emergency response and related preparedness drills.
- Maintain required annual certifications and complete training requirements within required time periods.
- Oversee scheduling of personnel to avoid overtime not approved by security leadership.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur. The incumbent works with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
