Travel Welder
Join a dynamic team specializing in delivering engineering, inspection, and remediation services for lighting poles, transmission towers, and other infrastructures exposed to wear from usage, aging, and environmental conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding tasks using Self Shielded Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW-S) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) processes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and welding symbols to determine welding requirements.
- Select and set up appropriate welding equipment, machinery, and materials.
- Execute welding operations in all positions, including flat (1G & 1F), horizontal (2G & 2F), vertical (3G & 3F), and overhead (4G & 4F).
- Inspect and verify welded components for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to specifications.
- Perform weld tests and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Identify and rectify defects such as cracks, porosity, and incomplete fusion.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a welder with Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and/or Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) processes.
- Strong understanding of welding techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and schematics.
- Proficiency in welding operations in various positions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in fabrication and structural welding.
- Familiarity with MIG welding techniques.

Work Environment
Projects can last from 3 weeks to 6 months, requiring candidates to be prepared to work in various environmental conditions alongside nature and wildlife. Steel toes rated with ankle protection and a weld hood are required, while all other necessary equipment is provided.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, LA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
