Senior AWS Full Stack Engineer

CGI is seeking a Senior AWS Full Stack Engineer to support the development and modernization of enterprise applications within a large scale financial services environment. This role is best suited for a hands on engineer with deep Java expertise, strong full stack development experience, and practical knowledge of AWS based application environments. The engineer will develop and enhance backend services, batch processing solutions, APIs, and modern web applications while working with high volume data and distributed systems.

We partner with 15 of the top 20 banks globally, and our top 10 banking clients have worked with us for an average of 26 years! This role is located at a client site in either Knoxville, TN, Columbia SC or Lafayette, LA or Birmingham, AL. A hybrid working model is acceptable.

Key responsibilities include:

Develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Hibernate, and microservices. Build and enhance user facing functionality using React or Angular and JavaScript/Type Script. Develop and integrate REST APIs and services across distributed applications. Work with AWS services including ECS, EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora, messaging services, and MWAA. Develop and optimize complex SQL and data processing workflows supporting high volume workloads.

Support automated build, deployment, and infrastructure processes using Git Lab CI/CD and Terraform. Improve application performance, automated testing, code quality, reliability, and maintainability. Use Git Hub Copilot or similar AI assisted development tools for coding, refactoring, testing, and technical documentation. Work independently within complex codebases while collaborating with engineering and business teams to deliver reliable solutions.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role include: 8+ years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on Java development skills. Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Batch, and Hibernate. Hands on experience developing microservices and REST APIs for enterprise applications.

Experience with React or Angular, along with JavaScript and/or Type Script. Practical AWS experience, particularly with ECS, EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora, messaging services, and MWAA (Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow). Strong SQL skills with experience working with Oracle or other relational databases and high volume data processing. Experience developing or supporting large scale distributed systems and application integration patterns. Working knowledge of Git Lab CI/CD, Terraform, and automated deployment practices.

Strong understanding of automated testing, code quality, troubleshooting, and application performance optimization. Experience using Git Hub Copilot or comparable AI assisted coding tools as part of regular software development. Able to work independently, troubleshoot complex application issues, and quickly become productive in established codebases. Financial services or other highly regulated enterprise application experience is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
