Senior AWS Full Stack Engineer

CGI is seeking a Senior AWS Full Stack Engineer to develop and enhance cloud based applications within a large scale financial services environment. This role is suited for an experienced software engineer who is comfortable working across the application stack, from modern web interfaces and backend services to databases and AWS cloud services. The engineer will develop scalable applications and APIs, contribute to cloud native development initiatives, and support automated build, test, and deployment processes.

The role will also provide opportunities to incorporate Generative AI capabilities into applications, including LLM powered assistants, summarization, and other intelligent features. We partner with 15 of the top 20 banks globally, and our top 10 banking clients have worked with us for an average of 26 years!. This role is located at a client site in either Knoxville, TN, Columbia SC or Lafayette, LA or Birmingham, AL.

A hybrid working model is acceptable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain full stack applications running in AWS.
• Build responsive user interfaces using React or Angular and JavaScript/Type Script.
• Develop backend services using technologies such as Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, or Python.
• Build and integrate RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Work with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and No
  
  SQL technologies such as Amazon Document DB or MongoDB.
• Develop and support CI/CD pipelines and containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Use infrastructure as code practices to support repeatable cloud deployments.
• Integrate Generative AI and large language model capabilities into enterprise applications where appropriate.
• Develop automated tests and follow established software engineering, TDD, source control, and Agile practices.
• Troubleshoot application, integration, and cloud related issues across the technology stack.
• Lead technical initiatives, perform code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
• Partner with cross functional teams to turn business requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions.
• Apply responsible AI practices when implementing GenAI capabilities.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• 5+ years of experience developing and supporting applications in AWS cloud environments.
• Full stack development experience with Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, or Python on the backend and React or Angular on the frontend.
• Strong JavaScript/Type Script, HTML, and CSS skills.
• Experience developing and integrating REST APIs;
  GraphQL experience is beneficial.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, along with exposure to Document DB, MongoDB, or similar No
  
  SQL databases.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code.
• Solid understanding of scalable application development, common software patterns, and cloud native development practices.
• Experience with automated testing and test driven development.
• Strong working knowledge of Git and Agile software development practices.
• Exposure to Generative AI and LLM integration, including technologies such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
• Experience developing GenAI enabled application features such as assistants, chat interfaces, summarization, or similar capabilities is preferred.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, model tuning concepts, and responsible AI practices.
• Ability to lead technical work, conduct code reviews, and mentor less experienced engineers.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with Product, UX, QA, and other engineering teams.
• Experience working in financial services or another large, regulated enterprise environment is a plus.
