Under direct supervision, performs paraprofessional accounting and fiscal control functions, such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll preparation, budget monitoring, and related general accounting processes.
All District 4 Public Health, County BOH employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, employees may be called on to participate in staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC), and/or a Point of Distribution site (POD). Participation will be a part of your job requirement, regardless of whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
Responsibilities- Performs physical inventory of all health departments and programs.
- Manage Fixed Assets, including monthly entries, annual depreciation, transfers, and disposals.
- Reconcile bank statements.
- Conduct cash audits and semi‑annual cash audits of all health departments and cash entities.
- Prepare volunteer payroll.
- Oversee gift card maintenance.
- Oversee Health Department budgets.
- Manage expense claims closings.
- Back up to accounts payable.
- Assist with month‑end closeouts.
- Assist with year‑end closeouts.
- Assist District Administrator and finance team with additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain knowledge of allowable revenues and expenditures.
- Maintain knowledge of financial policies and procedures.
- Attend trainings and stay current with all policies and procedures.
- Attend regular staff meetings.
- Perform duties in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with other duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of professional accounting job‑related experience; OR one (1) year of experience at the lower‑level Accountant 1 (FIP
020) or position equivalent.
- Knowledge of relevant accounting software.
- Proficiency in Excel.
