Norican Buyer

We are seeking a Buyer to plan, organize, and purchase quality products and services at competitive cost consistent with company policy and performance standards.

Responsibilities:

• Procurement: Place purchase orders and authorize payments based on agreed‑upon terms. Maintain PO accuracy (price, leadtime, delivery dates, payment terms) expedite critical items. Resolve shortages to support production / sales.
• Supplier Relationship Management: Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to include performance management (on‑time delivery, quality, responsiveness) and follow up on issues.
• Cost Optimization: Assessing costs and finding ways to reduce total expenses by considering price, freight, terms, order size, quality, and lead‑time.
• Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with internal stakeholders such as production, engineering, inside sales and finance to understand their needs and prioritize purchases.
• Market Research: Conducting research to stay informed about market trends, new products, and potential suppliers. Support/Drive RFQ/RFP activity, supplier selection recommendations, and negotiated agreements within delegated authority.
• Sustainability Initiatives: Working with suppliers to promote sustainable sourcing practices and reduce the environmental impact of the supply chain.
• Process Improvement: Identifying and implementing improvements to the supply chain process (lead‑time reduction, inventory parameter improvements, & MRP transaction discipline).

Technical

Skills:

• Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree with focus on Business is preferred.
• Experience:
  
  Three to five years experience.
• Technical
  
  Skills:
  
  Advanced Microsoft Office; CRM Software, Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
• Licenses:
  Active CPM or CPIM, CSPC or related certification preferred.

Specific Tasks:

• Issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs), evaluating proposals, and negotiating prices and delivery terms. Record supplier awards, reasons for selection, and pricing assumptions for any future sourcing.
• Identify potential suppliers suited to meet the company’s requirements for price, quality, and delivery. Qualify alternatives for single sourced or high‑risk items.
• Manage assigned supplier base and drive cost reductions goals while adhering to company KPI’s.
• Monitor supplier performance through performance assessments, including lead times, quality, and compliance with contractual agreements and address issues to ensure smooth operations.
• Research and recommend substitute or alternative items or supply.
• Identify and addressing issues (or potential disruptions) in the supply chain.
• Utilize ERP systems and procurement software to manage and release planned purchase orders. Maintain data accuracy for pricing, lead‑times, dates, and supplier parameters.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
• Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal teams regarding material availability and supply issues.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, understand Bill of Materials (BOM’s), and part specifications.
