Substitute Teacher assumes the full role and responsibilities of the Teacher in his/her absence, provides support to regular classroom staff for establishment, maintenance and management of all classroom activities.
Duties and Responsibilities- Implements daily lesson plans and schedules.
- Organizes and maintains learning centers within the classroom.
- Maintains order using positive approaches to behavior management.
- Recruits volunteers and solicits in‑kind contributions.
- Attends meetings, trainings and workshops as required.
- Maintains cleanliness of classrooms and adjoining restrooms.
- Serves as an advocate for the Head Start Program, families and children.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma and/or GED.
- At least one year of experience working with infants and toddlers in a childcare setting.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate.
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Current driver’s license and access to a covered automobile with current insurance.
- Current CDA or AA in Early Childhood Education required.
Requires walking and interacting with children during rigorous outdoor play for up to 45 minutes at a time, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching and occasionally standing. Must lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently. Requires close, distance, peripheral vision with ability to adjust focus.
