• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience managing technical teams in charge of installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, or maintaining hardware servers and their components.
• Experience in site-level data center operational leadership.
• Experience developing and managing managers.
• Experience with different operating systems (e.g., Linux) and developing network architecture.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays, and on shift-based schedules as required.

• Experience initiating and executing strategic initiatives in a global environment.
• Experience leading operations in a 24x7 environment.
• Ability to implement and drive a safety culture at the site while fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Track record of leading and improving environmental health & safety initiatives.

• Be accountable for consistent execution, customer reliability, and aligning daily work with Global Server Operations long-term business strategy, including managing site KPIs, incident response, and business operations.
• Focus on talent development, team management, and fostering a positive site culture.
• Define the role in managing risk, ensuring compliance, and handling cross-functional and external relationships.
• Cover the tools and processes for tracking and communicating site performance.

Google isn’t just a software company. The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology. As a Hardware Operations Manager, you will manage a team of Data Center Technicians, oversee quality installation of server hardware and components, and take charge of complicated installations and troubleshooting.

Your team will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware (like servers and their components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster). They will also handle more complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches, and networking protocols, and may lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.

In this role, you will lead a team of data center technicians who perform quality installations of server and network hardware and their components, maintain and troubleshoot any tests, and model teamwork attributes with a positive impact on site culture.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $164,000 - $238,000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits.
