Court Services Manager
NOTICE OF JOB OPENING
DEPARTMENT: MUNICIPAL COURT
PAY: MIN $29.64 MAX $43.69

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Court Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, administration, and service delivery of court-related programs and functions. This position provides leadership to court services staff, ensures compliance with applicable laws, policies, procedures, and court rules, and promotes efficient, professional, and accessible services to judges, attorneys, court personnel, justice-system partners, and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the day-to-day operations of court services and related administrative functions
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, workflow, and service standards
  • Ensure court services are delivered accurately, efficiently, professionally, and in accordance with applicable laws, court rules, and organizational policies
  • Assign workloads, establish priorities, monitor performance, and address operational issues
  • Coordinate with judges, court administrators, attorneys, law enforcement, government agencies, community organizations, and other justice-system partners
  • Monitor case-processing and administrative activities to identify delays, errors, or opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of court records, case information, and other sensitive information
  • Assist with budgets, purchasing, staffing, scheduling, resource allocation, and operational planning
  • Prepare management reports, correspondence, presentations, statistics, and other administrative documents
  • Respond to complex questions and complaints from court users and provide appropriate guidance or referrals
  • Support technology, records management, and process-improvement initiatives
  • Ensure staff receive appropriate training regarding court procedures, customer service, confidentiality, and compliance requirements
  • Participate in audits, quality‑assurance reviews, strategic planning, and continuous‑improvement initiatives
  • Identify operation risks and recommend corrective actions to court leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Court Administrator or designated court leadership

Staff Management

  • Lead and supervise assigned employees
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback
  • Address employee performance, attendance, conduct, and training needs in accordance with organizational policies
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and respectful workplace practices

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure operations comply with applicable statutes, regulations, court rules, policies, and procedures
  • Protect confidential and restricted information
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls and quality‑assurance processes
  • Escalate legal, operational, security, or compliance concerns when appropriate

Customer and Stakeholder Service

  • Promote courteous, impartial, and professional service to members of the public
  • Handle sensitive or escalated customer concerns
  • Communicate effectively with judges, attorneys, court staff, agencies, and community partners
  • Help ensure court services are accessible and understandable to court users

Administration and Reporting

  • Track operational performance and prepare reports for court leadership
  • Assist with annual budgeting, planning, staffing, and resource management
  • Analyze data and recommend improvements to court services
  • Maintain accurate administrative records and documents

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, criminal justice, court administration, business administration, legal studies, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in court administration, judicial services, government administration, legal services, or a related environment
  • Demonstrated supervisory or management experience
  • Strong knowledge of administrative procedures, records management, and organizational operations
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and court rules
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
