Facilitate the manufacture of quality brake pads.
Job Responsibilities Press Operations- Operate molding presses as set forth by Operating Procedures.
- Read and interpret all specification sheets, gauges, and monitors.
- Troubleshoot problems and keep presses in full production.
- Produce pads that meet quality specifications.
- Communicate with press support person regarding quality problems identified by test procedures.
- Operate presses safely, following all safety guidelines.
- Maintain area in an orderly, clean manner following 5S concept.
- Know product schedule for shift and assure availability to meet requirements.
- Notify supervisor of any problems affecting quality, safety or production.
- Communicate with operators on other shifts regarding activity and problems.
- Complete all paperwork to report production and press activity.
- Ensure proper machine settings.
- Clear all finishing line machine stops and reset machine when necessary.
- Unload exit conveyor, perform visual check, and fill tote according to style being run.
- Set up grinder according to specification.
- Keep finishing line running.
- Perform visual checks on all pads coming off the line.
- Perform visual checks on paint and grinding quality.
- Complete the Finishing Process Inspection Report.
- Report finishing line production and scrap for the shift.
- Fill out Finishing Lot Cards and Lot Summary Tickets.
- Complete finishing line check-sheets, including paint booth cleaning.
- Paint booth cleaning – major cleaning once per shift and as necessary.
- Clean grinder shavings once per shift.
- General clean‑up following all 5S procedures.
- Supply correct powder and plates to each press.
- Follow production demand throughout shift and supply powder and plates as required.
- Ensure release agent bottles are filled at beginning of shift and reapply secondary HMIS labels as necessary.
- Load and unload press lines with plates to meet production demands.
- Conduct tests as required.
- Notify Supervisor and Press Operator of any quality problems identified from test results.
- Complete control graphs.
- Operate Combination Line whenever required.
- Maintain area in orderly, clean manner following 5S concept at all times.
- Assist Combination Line operator in cleaning machines.
- Weigh pre‑form material that is backed‑out and record as needed at shift shutdown.
- Return empty powder boxes to mix room and empty plate totes to plate prep.
- Follow all safety guidelines and report hazards to the Supervisor.
- Follow all safety guidelines as defined in area safety rules and JA-HR-C-010 General Plant Safety Rules.
- Wear required PPE, including safety glasses and hearing protection.
- Lift 35 lbs or more frequently; may lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
- Place finished product on roller conveyors in complete lots with all necessary documentation.
- Use hand tools as necessary to change tooling.
- Maintain excellent attendance.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Work EnvironmentWork involves moderate risks requiring protective clothing such as safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
Physical DemandsThe employee must regularly talk or hear, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects or controls, and reach with hands or arms. The employee must frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are required.
