Neighborhood Water Watch Internship LaGrange, GA Chattahoochee Riverkeeper's (CRK) mission is to advocate and secure the protection and stewardship of the Chattahoochee River, its tributaries and watershed in order to restore and preserve their ecological health for the people and wildlife that depend on the river system. CRK seeks a passionate intern to assist the Technical Programs department in our LaGrange office with daily activities and responsibilities associated with running our Neighborhood Water Watch (NWW) program.
Duties include data management and analysis, lab work and lab inventory, field work, pollution tracking, instrument calibration, public outreach and presentations, email correspondence, and an independent project related to NWW. Interns will also have the option to focus on an independent project. Interns will receive valuable real world and professional experience, networking opportunities with partners and sponsors, and will be an essential asset to CRK’s vital work.
Internship hours are negotiable; scheduling of these hours will be decided between intern and supervisor.
Preferred qualifications:
• Laboratory coursework preferred
• Data management experience (experience with Excel) preferred
• GIS experience with desktop and ArcGIS online
• Interest in environmental field
• Flexible and adaptable
• Ability to work in physically demanding field conditions CRK will give preference to interns who are passionate about our mission and are capable of aiding our Technical Programs department and other departments in activities necessary to achieve our goals. CRK is a small nonprofit organization that works collectively to protect and advocate for clean water. Main duties:
• Assist with PSCIP program
• Identify industrial facilities (permitted/unpermitted)
• Analyze and interpret permits and annual reports from facilities in Alabama and Georgia
• Update GIS layers to reflect current status of facilities in Chattahoochee watershed
• Field work to photograph sites of interest
