Neighborhood Water Watch Internship Gainesville, GA Chattahoochee Riverkeeper's (CRK) mission is to advocate and secure the protection and stewardship of the Chattahoochee River, its tributaries and watershed in order to restore and preserve their ecological health for the people and wildlife that depend on the river system. CRK seeks a passionate intern to assist the Watershed Programs department in the Headwaters region with activities and responsibilities associated with our Neighborhood Water Watch (NWW) program.

Duties include data management and analysis, lab work and lab inventory, fieldwork, pollution tracking, instrument calibration, public outreach and presentations, and email correspondence. Interns will also have the option to focus on an independent project and participate in other CRK programs. Interns will receive valuable real world and professional experience, networking opportunities with partners and sponsors, and will be an essential asset to CRK’s vital work.

Preferred qualifications:

• Laboratory coursework preferred
• Data management experience (experience with Excel) preferred
• Interest in the environmental field
• Flexible and adaptable
• Work on a team with CRK staff and fellow interns
• Ability to work in physically demanding field conditions CRK will give preference to interns who are passionate about our mission and are willing to assist with our Watershed Programs and other departments in activities necessary to achieve our goals. CRK is a non-profit organization that works collectively to protect and advocate for clean water. Most of our work related to the NWW program occurs during the hours of 11:00 a.m.

-3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and/or 8:00 a.m.

-1:00 p.m. on Thursdays. Preference is given to interns who can commit to working some of these hours every week for a full semester. Other work hours will be scheduled based on availability. This internship is a minimum of 5 hours per week. Main duties:
• Manage and upload data to databases Keeping watch over our waters since 1994. Gainesville | Atlanta | LaGrange (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).
• Analyze and interpret data
• Conduct sample collection, field tests, pollution tracking, and visual assessment in the field
• Conduct bacterial, chemical, and other supplemental tests in CRK’s office laboratory on EPA-approved equipment
• Calibrate, maintain, and inventory laboratory supplies, equipment, probes
