The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team that ensures patients, families and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe care. Practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, while adhering to the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence‑based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and aligned with the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.

• Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence‑based practice, analytical and critical thinking, and ensures individualized care.
• Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics, adapting delivery to cultural diversity.
• Partners with patients and significant others, using appropriate methods for communication (e.g., bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, bedside teaching).
• Practices current clinical standards.

• Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care promoting the professional model, including interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation.
• Demonstrates teamwork, fiscal responsibility, and promotes recruitment and retention of team members.
• Participates in performance improvement and research utilization, leading or supporting initiatives and shared governance.

• Completes all required professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
• Serves as a preceptor/mentor to nurses and staff from all disciplines.

• Promotes evidence‑based practice and nursing research, including value analysis in patient‑care product decisions.
• Upholds health‑care policies, legal and accreditation requirements.
• Participates in data collection, forms clinical questions, consults experts and uses evidence to address practice questions.

• Plans for patient care across the continuum during direct patient care.
• Participates in developing protocols and procedures with care managers and team members.
• Supports efficient use of human and material resources.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

• Associate’s Nursing or Diploma (RN) Nursing
• Bachelor’s Nursing – Preferred

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

• ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support or equivalent (180‑day provisional)
• BLS – Basic Life Support or equivalent (180‑day provisional)
• RN – Licensed Registered Nurse (Single or Multi‑state Compact)
• NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program or equivalent (180‑day provisional)

• Minimum of 2 years direct patient‑care experience.

• English reading, writing, and speaking ability; basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to function in fast‑paced environments and respond decisively to emergencies.
• Excellent time‑management skills.
• Strong critical and analytical thinking using evidence‑based practice.
