Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, responsible for delivering individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care. The RN utilizes evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and clinical expertise to support patients, families, and significant others across the care continuum while promoting optimal patient outcomes.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Exemplary Practice and Patient Outcomes

  • Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide evidence-based, individualized patient care.
  • Delivers relationship-based, patient-centered care that reflects population-specific needs, including age, gender, disease process, and cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and their support systems through effective communication methods such as bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient education.
  • Practices in accordance with current clinical standards, policies, and professional guidelines.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Coordinates and documents safe, high-quality patient care through effective interdisciplinary communication and collaboration.
  • Promotes a respectful, inclusive, and professional clinical environment.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives, research utilization, and shared governance activities.
  • Practices fiscal responsibility and supports recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.

Professional Development and Initiative

  • Completes all required competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor to nurses, staff, and students, fostering professional growth and a healthy work environment.

Evidence-Based Practice and Research

  • Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in value analysis and decision-making related to patient care products and practices.
  • Complies with all organizational policies, legal regulations, accreditation standards, and patient safety goals.

Resources and Support

  • Plans and coordinates patient care across the continuum.
  • Participates in the development of protocols and procedures to improve patient outcomes and reduce adverse events and readmissions.
  • Supports efficient use of human and material resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards, and code of conduct.
Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school (Required)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (Preferred)

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Single-State or Multi-State Compact)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of current direct patient care experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Basic computer and healthcare technology proficiency
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies calmly and decisively
  • Strong time management, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Commitment to evidence-based nursing practice

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of current direct patient care experience Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience
