Description:
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. The RN practices in a clinical environment that is supported through a shared governance model. The framework for practice is driven by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research.
It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the state's Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. They are expected to uphold the voice of the patient while supporting service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and
Essential Functions:
Performs the Nursing Process, including assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care using evidence-based practice. Provides relationship-based patient-centered care that is consistent with population-specific characteristics in a culturally diverse manner. Partners with the patient and significant others, using appropriate methods for communication and ensuring the patient's goals are the focus of care. Practices using current clinical practice standards.
Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by promoting the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members. Participates in and supports performance improvement activities, initiating and leading such efforts to promote safe, quality patient care. Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education.
Serves as a preceptor and mentor for other professional nurses and staff to ensure a current and qualified workforce. Promotes evidence-based practice and nursing research. Participates in activities such as value analysis to evaluate patient care products. Upholds all policies and procedures relevant to the position, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Participates in data collection and poses relevant clinical questions to enhance evidence-based practice.
Plans for the care of patients across the care continuum in delivering direct patient care. Develops protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other members of the healthcare team. Supports the efficient use of human and material resources. Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all relevant policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
