About the Job

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers, treats fellow associates with respect, follows all company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. During all working hours the Associate engages in tasks assigned and may be requested to perform additional duties as needed to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Functions
  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment. Keep egress to emergency exits clutter‑free and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; remain friendly and professional at all times. Recognize fellow associates using company recognition programs.
  • Assist customers in any way necessary – be register‑trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet all customers and say “hello” throughout the store and “thank you” with every registered transaction.
  • Respond promptly to customer service calls and handle all customer issues courteously, calling leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, and replenishing restroom supplies; disinfect high‑touch areas to maintain merchandise, customer, and team areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company’s dress code at all times.
  • Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery per company best practice to keep the store neat, clean, and organized.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor with a sense of urgency; merchandise all items per company best practices and monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understand the Loss Prevention Awareness program, the Shortage Highway, and, where applicable, the Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguard confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follow all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, properly process each piece, and notify leadership for approval of disposals.
  • Follow all policies and procedures concerning cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions, voids, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy when handling bankable tenders.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to efficiently perform the role; maximize productivity by executing best practices and minimizing steps in the workflow.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
  • Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Associates who work stockroom shifts: push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds regularly.
