PAY: MIN $21.76 MAX $32.25

The employee in this position performs highly skilled electrical, electronic, and mechanical work at all water pollution control plants and pumping stations. Work involves the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems including motors, starters, relays, MCC’s, VFD’s, PLC’s, circuit boards, wiring, instrumentation, and computer system. Employee also performs mechanical maintenance and repairs of wastewater equipment. A considerable amount of independent judgment is necessary in analyzing and restoring equipment to its optimal operating condition.

Employee is supervised by the Water Pollution Control Equipment Maintenance Supervisor and supervises no other employees.

• Troubleshoots and repairs problems in mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
• Utilizes testing equipment of the electrical field to diagnose equipment problems.
• Performs emergency repairs and troubleshoots mechanical breakdowns.
• Runs conduit and pulls wires as needed.
• Works from and updates control logic diagrams.
• Programs, controllers, timers, etc. and rebuilds electrical controls.
• Calibrates and repairs plant instrumentation.
• Maintains emergency generators.
• Performs preventative and predictive maintenance on electrical, electronic and mechanical systems.
• Conducts and documents routine preventative maintenance according to schedule.
• Obtains and evaluates predictive maintenance data, such as vibration analyses, infrared scans, electric consumption, etc.
• Assists in cleaning equipment, building, and grounds.
• Assists in electrical training of mechanics and operators.
• Performs related duties as required.
• Operates, checks, and calibrates a variety of mechanical equipment, meters, valves, gauges, and instruments to ensure proper operation.
• Takes readings and records on charts various wastewater treatment plant equipment, gauges and other related instrumentation.
• Maintains complete and accurate records and logs of duties completed.
• Performs preventative and minor maintenance on assigned plant equipment.
• Performs daily inspection of plant mechanical systems.
• Performs janitorial duties.
• Cleans and/or paints equipment, pumps, motors, piping, etc.
• Performs grounds maintenance such as grass cutting, weed eating, and general clean up as needed.
• Performs other related duties as required/assigned.

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and be able to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a high school or equivalent level.
• Preferred candidates are supplemented by courses from a vocational technical school relating to the electrical, electronic and mechanical fields.
• Experience sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to three years.
• Must be a team player and possess good oral and written communication skills.
• High School diploma supplemented by courses from a vocational technical school relating to the electrical, electronic and mechanical fields.
• Preferred candidate has at least four years’ experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.
• Possess a valid State of Georgia driver’s license and/or live within a thirty‑minute response time.
• Ability to work on‑call.
