Middle School Multi-Media Teacher (60% Probationary Contract)

Location: Laguna Beach Unified School District, Thurston Middle School, Laguna Beach, California.

Starting Date: August 14, 2026.

Job Type: Part-time.

Salary: Based on education and years of experience.

Primary Function: The teacher is expected to demonstrate fitness for this teaching position by exemplary:

• Preparation in the appropriate subject areas
• Ability to provide a positive learning environment
• Capacity to relate to students and adults
• Code of ethics
• Vigor and intelligence with which they approach teaching

Experience and

Education:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying. Credential:
California Single Subject Credential with an authorization in the specific subject area and the additional authorization to teach limited‑English proficient pupils.

Education:

Equivalent to the completion of a Bachelor and/or higher degree with a major or minor in the specific area of the credential from an accredited college or university.

Assigned Responsibilities:

• Maintain a positive learning environment by demonstrating the ability to define the total of time, space, material, and personal interaction in terms of the needs of the students, by being adaptable enough to choose the process that will meet the particular objective, and by maintaining a positive view of student efforts.
• Recognize when components are lacking due to conditions beyond control and take appropriate action.
• Encourage a creative flow of self‑expression stemming from student concerns, while preventing individual student interference with the self‑expression of others.
• Relate to students by demonstrating rapport and respect for the individuality of students of various social, economic, and racial backgrounds; relate to faculty by working with others and engaging in school activities.
• Demonstrate a concern for human values by showing a genuine awareness of a fundamental essence in each individual who, in spite of circumstantial behavior, is innately good.
• Maintain a code of professional and personal ethics compatible with the provisions of the Education Code.
• Demonstrate sufficient physical stamina, good health, and a vigorous inquiring attitude to carry out professional responsibilities.

• Valid CTE Arts, Media, and Entertainment credential or Single Subject teaching credential in Industrial and Technology Education.
• Letter of Introduction/Cover Letter.

• 3 current letters of reference—at least one from a supervising principal or administrator.
• Transcripts with Bachelor’s degree, Master’s (if applicable), and professional program(s).
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
