American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU Charge RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring 3+ years of solid NICU experience and CA RN licensure.
Requirements- Active CA RN license required, must be in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and Advanced NRP
- Minimum 3 years of solid NICU experience required
- Level III or Level IV NICU experience with focus on 1:1/1:2 care and high-risk deliveries/admits
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Proficiency in a wide range of NICU clinical skills including ventilator management, UAC/UVC placement, arterial and central line management, neonatal dosage calculations, and dysrhythmia interpretation
- One professional reference required, obtained within the past 2 years
- Nursys report required, pulled within 2 weeks of consideration
- Work in a Level III/IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within a hospital setting
- Role combines bedside care and charge nurse responsibilities, with charge pay differential for shifts worked as charge
- Patient population includes neonates and infants ranging from 34 weeks gestation
- High risk delivery attendance and 1:1 or 1:2 care assignments
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30
- Weekend shifts scheduled as needed to meet unit needs
- Floating required, including potential floating to Labor & Delivery and between facility locations
- Uses Epic for documentation, Omnicell for medication administration, and SBAR for communication
- Provide comprehensive NICU care including high-risk delivery attendance, respiratory support (Bubble CPAP, HFNC, oscillators, ventilator management), and management of critically ill neonates
- Perform procedures such as UAC/UVC placement, arterial and central line management, phototherapy, and assistance with lumbar punctures
- Support breastfeeding, manage feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), and provide patient/family education
- Care for neonates with conditions including neonatal abstinence syndrome, seizure disorders, sepsis, and respiratory distress syndrome
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Previous permanent staff at the facility are not eligible for consideration
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at the local rate
- Any time off requests must be disclosed prior to consideration, with no additions after submission
