The OpportunityWe are seeking a Staff Accountant to support the daily accounting operations of our senior living communities. This role works closely with on-site Business Office Directors and corporate leadership to ensure accurate financial records, strong controls, and timely reporting.
This is an ideal role for a detail-oriented accountant who enjoys hands‑on work, cross‑functional collaboration, and seeing the real‑world impact of their work on community operations.
What You’ll Do- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
- Review expense reports for accuracy and policy compliance
- Assist with financial reports and variance analyses across multiple communities
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and record depreciation entries
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
- Partner closely with Business Office Directors, Executive Directors, and department leaders
- Support audits, financial inquiries, and special projects
- Office‑based role with occasional visits to community locations
- May require extended hours during month‑end or audits
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- At least 3 years of accounting experience; experience in senior living, healthcare, or property management preferred but not required
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, Sage, Quick Books, or similar ERP systems)
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
- Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
