Must have:
  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field required.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience in a hotel or similar setting preferred.
  • Trade school and/or college coursework in a related area is advantageous.
  • Availability for flexible and extended hours is sometimes necessary.
  • Ability to exert over 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or over 50 pounds frequently, and/or over 20 pounds regularly.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication to interact effectively with guests and staff in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Capable of actively listening, understanding, and addressing concerns from both guests and employees.
  • Strong multitasking capabilities and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all interactions with guests and colleagues in a professional and service-oriented manner.
  • Attendance at all required staff meetings and training sessions is mandatory.
  • Consistent attendance in line with Highgate Hotel Standards, adjusting to the hotels scheduling needs.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the designated uniform and nametag.
  • Adhere to Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient operations.
  • Proactively work towards enhancing productivity, identifying issues, and supporting implementation of solutions.
  • Competence in problem-solving, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues as necessary.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply complex information and data from diverse sources to achieve objectives.
  • Willingness to cross-train in other areas related to hotel operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the property is maintained in optimal condition while minimizing inconvenience to customers and staff.
  • Repair and maintain the hotel’s air conditioning systems, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on various equipment, including boilers, chillers, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  • Take necessary readings on equipment for performance assessment.
  • Test and document readings for cooling towers.
  • Replace and program televisions as needed in guest rooms.
  • Change light switches, receptacles, light bulbs, and fixtures as required.
  • Perform repairs on furniture to ensure functionality and appearance.
  • Replace and repair pumps in various systems throughout the property.
  • Conduct plumbing repairs, including managing clogged drains and changing fittings.
  • Interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams for repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Trace and mend all types of water lines as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and fix kitchen equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal codes in all repair and maintenance work.
  • Test, clean, and repair swimming pools and spas to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Paint designated areas to maintain aesthetic standards.
  • Repair and finish sheetrock as necessary for facility upkeep.
  • Restore various wall coverings to ensure interior quality.
  • Program and repair the hotel’s electronic lock systems as needed.
